Cystadenomas develop from abnormal tissue growth on the ovaries. They occur between the ages of 20 and 50 but most commonly in women in their 30s and 40s. Cystadenomas typically present no symptoms until they reach a size that results in weight gain and abdominal bloating. If the cystadenoma contains a watery liquid it is called a serous cystadenoma.
